About
Hello everyone! I am a native English speaker who grew up between Hawaii and French Polynesia. My father's family lived in the Tuamotu Archipelago and spoke an Austronesian based language locally known as Paumotu. Since I lived with my mother in Hawaii, and Hawaiian language was also an Austronesian based language, my mother put me through a Hawaiian immersion program from first grade through graduation of high school.
Through my childhood I was lucky enough to travel between Hawaii and French Polynesia to see family, so I picked up French and Tahitian in my time spent abroad. Later on in college, I strengthened my foundation in French and now speak it conversationally.
I now live with my husband and one-year-old son in French Polynesia, and look for opportunities to teach and/or tutor English.

Experience
I have experience as an English tutor for Leeward Community College. For a semester, I tutored adults in Eng 100 and helped them to understand the necessary corrections that were made to their compositions. I also acquired my substitute teacher certificate for the State of Hawaii, though I didn't end up subbing because I got a job captaining a dive boat!
Teaching Approach
My teach approach is very personalized. I work with my students to understand what their particular needs for that session are, or for a length of sessions. Once I understand one's personal needs, I can work with the client to create a simple approach to tutoring and focus on reading, writing, speech, or a combination.
