Portuguese lessons for children
I am used to teach children from 6 to 10. My experience with them has been fantastic.
Intensive Portuguese
I have taught many foreigners about my Culture for many years.
Portuguese for beginners
Helping people taking their first steps in a language and after a while seeing them to walk by themselves is rewarding.
Conversational Portuguese
Before leaning how to speak it is necessary to learn how to think in a language. In order to switch the brain button to Portuguese mode it is necessary to acquire some rules and vocabulary. Baby steps, there is no other way.
Portuguese for traveling
Learning survival Portuguese in order to travel takes some effort, but with some help it's a piece of cake!
Working with Portuguese people
If you come to Portugal try to live and work among the Portuguese. You have a lot to learn from them.
Having Portuguese friends
Socializing, going to bars at the end of the day, having a drink will help you to forget social rules. Great opportunity to learn.
Reading and writing Portuguese
The best way to truly understand a language it is necessary to work with it as much as possible: reading, writing, trying to make a conversation without being afraid of making mistake is the best and fastest way to get there.
Understanding Portuguese movies
Listening and reading the subtitles of a movie or watching a video-clip of a song and at the same time to read the lyrics will help to improve pronunciation.
Portuguese lifestyle and culture
That is another aspect of the Portuguese way that I approach during my classes.
My name is Luís Costa. I like reading and going for walks either on the countryside or by the beach. I am a calm and very patient person. I am relaxed, energetic, social and very talkative.
Over the past fifteen years I have worked as a teacher in primary schools teaching English to children from 6 to 10 years old, and as a tutor to children from several ages that need to improve their marks in several subjects such as Portuguese, English, Portuguese History or Geography; as well as to foreign adults from many different countries that want to live in Portugal or simply want to know more about the Portuguese way; I teach them, not the language, but the Culture, which embraces Language, History, Gastronomy.... you name it!
I teach in a relaxed way. I try to keep my classes as light as possible, because I believe that the more relaxed the environment is the better students learn. Portuguese is a language full of rules, but also many exceptions to the rules, so sometimes I prefer to explain in which context certain structures are used, rather than explain a bunch of rules with as many exceptions.
