A lot of the upper intermediate to advanced students that come to me want to practice conversational English as they find it more useful

Working with English people

Through the lessons I teach students about the work culture in the UK and Ireland and how the use of language influences work relationships

Having English friends

Again it is important to learn not only the language but the cultural meanings behind the words. This is important for making good friendships.

Often times I will give small assignments that require a little bit of research to improve reading and writing skills.

About Tutor

I am a Private English Teacher currently based in Sao Paulo Brazil. I am twenty-one years old and a native English speaker. I have a TEFL certification as well as a BA in Economics with a minor in psychology. I am an outgoing individual with an understanding of the difficulties a student may face when trying to learn a new language.

Experience

In terms of experience with teaching, I have been a freelance Private English Teacher for almost a year now. I conduct the majority of my classes online so in this way I have relative experience on how an online class functions. Before my time as an English teacher, I was a horse riding instructor which requires an individual to be dynamic and to think on their feet.

Teaching Approach

The approach a teacher uses in the classroom differs greatly depending on the material being presented as well as the characteristics and level of the student themselves. I have a preference for encouraging students to come to the correct conclusions and discover the language for themselves through practical use and guidance. In this way, I would consider my style of teaching more modern than the more traditional style of the teacher doing the majority of the talking. For me, grammar and vocabulary are more likely to sink in for students who get to use them as much as possible within the classroom.
