I am a passionate teacher, that believes lessosn should be fun and engaging. I enjoy reading, baking and gardening and have been teaching in Cape Town for 12 years. I enjoy meeting people from all over the world and going to the theatre.
I have been teaching for 12 years in an International education system of which 6 years were teaching 4 and 5 years old, I have been teaching students between the ages of 7 to 13 for the last 6 years and specialise in English and Afrikaans. I have written and directed 6 school plays for the school that I am currently working for. I design personal learning plans for students that are not native speakers and can teach subjects across the Cambridge and South Africa n curriculum.
I believe in the TPR approach and make use of pictures, games, songs, videos and props in all my lessons. I am a firm believer that students learn from experience, therefore the teacher should not be the one doing all the talking and leading of the class. Students should be praise throughout lessons and be encouraged to try , even when making mistakes, as it is through mistakes that optimal learning takes place.
