Hello! My name is Leonardo and I'm from Colombia. I work as a language teacher and the languages I speak and teach are spanish, english, french and german. I'm also a musician, I have a Bachelor of Music with emphasis in composition. The guitar is my instrument and I'm also interested in cinema, literature and video games.
I have worked as a spanish, english and french teacher for 2 years. I started as a spanish tutor when I was doing my master (Applied Linguistics with emphasis in Spanish as a Foreign Language). I worked on a project of the university as an online spanish tutor and after that I worked as a spanish, english, and french teacher for many language schools, giving private and group lessons to students of all ages. I recently started working as an online teacher.
My teaching style is based on the communicative approach, I see language as a means to do something. However, my methodology is open to both modern and traditional techniques, because I have found that almost everything can be useful depending on the context.
I help my students to somehow make the target language a part of their lives. That's how I have learned the languages I speak. When you are able to link the language you're learning with the things you love to do, the learning process will be faster, more effective and more enjoyable.
The materials I use are authentic or adaptations of authentic materials. I prefer to prepare my students for the real use of the language, and what traditional texts sometimes show it's not what you'd find in the real world. Video calls are the best option for me, but I'm open to "audio only" calls when that's the only option.
