Greek lifestyle and culture

I lived in Greece for four years. I learned a lot about the lifestyle and culture of Greek people.

I was born in a gloomy coastal town in northern England. After spending my young adulthood in Greece and the United States, I returned to my hometown in 2011. My hobbies include learning new things, singing with a band, working out, reading, creative writing, cooking, pets, long walks, comedy, and socialising with friends. I have one son. He is the apple of my eye. His name is William.

My personality is confident and vivacious, yet empathetic. I can cheer up a sad child in a matter of minutes. I can make anybody laugh. I have a bright, enquiring mind. I love helping people. I love to educate. I also love to entertain people.

I believe that education should be lifelong. I know a lot of things about the English language and numerous other subjects. Where there are gaps in my knowledge, I am willing to fill them in the interest of helping others learn, too.

I began my teaching career in the year 2001. First, I taught asylum seekers at a local college voluntarily. I then moved to Athens in Greece. There, I taught English in classrooms for four years. Since early 2017, I've taught English to Chinese children via the internet. I've also tutored children on a one-to-one basis in person.

In addition to teaching, I create and sell website content for businesses wishing to promote their products via the internet. I began creating revenue from the sale of web content and promotional blog posts in 2007, and have done so ever since.

I also have experience working in the hospitality and customer care industries.

Teaching Approach

My teaching approach is relaxed, informal, humorous and friendly. I believe the brain can absorb more when a student is happy and content rather than uptight and afraid. Although my teaching approach is informal, I'm very passionate about both learning and teaching. I care a great deal about the success of my students. I'm more than willing to try different approaches until a student has correctly understood what I'm trying to teach them. I get great satisfaction when my students manage to reach a learning objective.
